How Much Does a Local Move Cost in Broward County? A Real Pricing Breakdown

    · by Hollywood Movers

Ask five moving companies for a Broward County local move quote and you'll get five different numbers — sometimes off by a factor of two. That's because pricing depends on more than square footage. Here's the honest breakdown of what actually drives the number on your quote.

The base structure: hourly, not flat

Legitimate local movers in Broward County (moves under 50 miles) are required by Florida law to bill hourly, not by weight. The hourly rate includes the crew and the truck. As of 2026, typical rates in Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, and Hallandale look like this:

    • 2-mover crew, one truck: $150–$180/hour
    • 3-mover crew, one truck: $200–$240/hour
    • 4-mover crew, one truck: $260–$310/hour
    • 5-mover crew, one truck: $310–$360/hour

Most companies have a 2- or 3-hour minimum. Travel time between our warehouse and your pickup/drop-off is usually billed at the same hourly rate — expect an added 30–60 minutes total for a Hollywood-based move within Broward.

    How long moves actually take

These are realistic ranges from our recent Broward jobs, assuming a professional crew, an accessible driveway, and boxes already packed:

    • Studio or 1-bed apartment (light furniture, ~15 boxes): 3–4 hours with 2 movers
    • 1-bed condo with elevator: 4–5 hours with 3 movers
    • 2-bed apartment (~30 boxes): 5–6 hours with 3 movers
    • 2-bed house (~40 boxes): 6–7 hours with 3 movers
    • 3-bed house (~60 boxes): 7–9 hours with 4 movers
    • 4-bed house, two-story (~80 boxes): 9–11 hours with 4–5 movers

What actually pushes the price up

    • Stairs, especially 2nd–3rd floor walk-ups: Add 15–25% to labor time
    • Long carries (more than 75 feet from truck to door — common in downtown condos): 10–20%
    • Packing services: $60–$90/hour per packer, plus materials at cost
    • Piano, safe, or pool table: $150–$500 flat surcharge depending on stairs
    • Same-day scheduling: Some companies add a 10–15% premium; we don't, but availability determines whether we can accept

Realistic all-in prices for common Broward moves

    • Studio, Hollywood to Hollywood, ground floor both ends: $500–$650
    • 1-bed apartment, Hollywood to Fort Lauderdale, one elevator: $700–$950
    • 2-bed condo, Hallandale to Aventura, freight elevators both ends: $1,100–$1,500
    • 3-bed house, Pembroke Pines to Cooper City: $1,600–$2,100
    • 4-bed 2-story home, Emerald Hills to Weston: $2,200–$3,000

What should raise a red flag

    • Flat quotes for local moves without an in-home or video estimate — usually a bait-and-switch
    • "$99 per hour" ads without disclosing minimums, travel time, or fuel surcharges
    • Requests for a large deposit (more than 10–15% of the estimate) up front
    • No physical Florida address or IM registration number (Florida licensed movers have an IM number; you can verify at fldfs.com)

    What our quotes look like

We give you a written estimate with the hourly rate, expected hours (best case / worst case), any travel time, and a full list of what's included (materials, dollies, blankets, disassembly). If the move goes faster than estimated, you pay less. If we hit an issue that pushes it longer, we call you before the clock exceeds the estimate — no surprise line items at the end.
